Quality Rating and Improvement Systems (QRIS)

A Quality Rating and Improvement Systems (QRIS) provides opportunities for child care providers to focus on improving the quality of their child care sites.

These systems include quality improvement support including training and coaching. Some QRIS systems also include information and resources on various helpful tools such as the Environmental Rating Scales (ERS) or the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP). Some QRIS systems also provide financial support through a quality improvement grant or stipend.

One such system is the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) Quality Start Los Angeles (QSLA) program. This is funded by the California Department of Education-Early Education Support Division (CDE-EESD).

The Alliance agencies provide the coaching support for QSLA. To learn more, visit http://qualitystartla.org.
