Quality Start Los Angeles

Quality Start Los Angeles is part of a nationwide movement to set standards that define quality for early childhood education (ECE). It is designed to inform parents as they make one of the most important decisions — finding the best early childhood education program for their family. Quality Start Los Angeles performs assessments and offers ECE providers support and financial incentives for their ongoing commitment to quality. The initiative is a joint effort of the Los Angeles County Office of Education, Los Angeles County Office for the Advancement of Early Care and Education, Child360, Child Care Alliance of Los Angeles, and First 5 LA.

More than forty years of research has shown that giving children a high quality early education provides a life-long foundation for learning and progress including a higher likelihood of attending college and becoming successfully employed. That is why Quality Start Los Angeles was created, to set high standards for ECE providers and help inform parents about those standards.

Quality Start Los Angeles providers who participate in this initiative receive access to training, resources, and funding to support their ongoing efforts.
