Quality Start Los Angeles

Quality Start Los Angeles (QSLA) is Los Angeles’ county-wide Quality Improvement System (QIS) designed to empower early learning providers to build upon and improve the quality of care they provide to children ages birth to five and their families.
QSLA does this by supporting those working in Los Angeles County’s mixed-delivery early learning system, including licensed child care centers, family child care homes, and family, friend, and neighbor caregivers (when funding allows), through professional development, specialized trainings (self-paced and live), individualized program supports, and access to research based resources and community partnerships. We offer services and supports in English, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese to best meet the needs of our early educators. By partnering with early educators, we are coming together to ensure all children receive a quality start in life.
Our partnership with families takes a similar approach, providing them with tools and resources to support their children, as their child’s first teacher. QSLA provides resources in multiple languages to support families with high quality early learning tools, such as booklists, activity guides, videos, information about quality programs and community partners, and supports for families raising dual language learners. Families can search for participating early learning locations in their area and view details of their QSLA participation, which provides a snapshot of the program.
Quality Start LA is a collaborative effort of the Los Angeles County Office of Education, Los Angeles County Office for the Advancement of Early Care and Education, Child Care Alliance of Los Angeles, PEACH, and First 5 LA.
